Beyond the product / Service envy

Scenario

This is the text of a "Fortune" article I wrote as a fake evidence of the exisistance of the service, trying to figure out the consequences of the usage of the service.

Laura Birnbaum was an engineer in her 30's with a successful business, a beautiful apartment in the East Side, and financial security. But living alone, she was plagued by a sense of terror at night, unable to express her feelings of fear to anyone. She tried conventional talk therapy, but all the talk in the world could not reach the parts of her where the source of this pain and distress lived. Exasperated by the ineffectiveness of conventional psychotherapeutic techniques, she’s turned to her own devices and created her own unique brand of therapy. After analyzing her positive experiences of feeling secure, Laura realized that all of them where related to feeling warmth, joy, expansion, relaxation, sense of connection and peace.
The source of all those feelings was her emotional space at home: her favourite music in the background, the smell of clean sheet in her bed, the warm sensation of entering the heated house during winter, the memory of her mother sitting in front her dressing table.
Basically for her security was misdirecting her fear feeling the comfort of her house.
For Laura, the answer was simple: surrounded by reminders of comfort and security, she no longer felt fear.
But this wasn’t enough. Above all she felt another key factor was essential: presence.
Presence meant someone offering her full attention while being grounded in herself, giving her a sense of welcoming, like when Anna, her grandmother was taking care of her when she was a child.Unfortunately, Anna lived far away in her home town of Fergus Falls, Minnesota. How to reach her during the bad moments? How to find her there whispering reassuring words when Laura woke up terrified? Laura found the answer in a technology familiar to both her and her grandmother; Anna and Laura share the same Hometech security system.
Laura wondered: why not use it to watch inside her house instead of outside?
Now Anna can take care of her granddaughter from distance using the camera system, providing Laura with her presence when she needed.
But Laura did more: she modeled her emotional space using a neural network tuning the Hometech system to the bio-data of her bracelet.
Now the system is a distributed intelligence that has learned what music she prefers, when she’s nervous, what’s the ideal temperature when she’s cold, what’s the memory in her old wristwatch.
